Bill Scott Seat

Last week a stone seat which was kindly gifted by the Scott family was installed at The Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. The seat is made from a marble slab that sat outside Bill Scott’s studio in Roslin. It has been polished and letter cut by ESW members Michael Boyd and Simon Burns-Cox. The installation sees the idea, often discussed by Bill and his wife Phyl, of the stone being used as a seat come to fruition. The words cut into the stone “Somehow Space is Ours” are taken from Bill’s work “Somewhere-Somehow” that can be viewed in the foyer of ESW. They say much about Bill’s interest in how people and artists use space and his ambition and tireless efforts to create the inspiring working environments of ESW.
