Gift Vouchers for Sculpture, Stone Letter Carving and Relief Carving Courses with Simon Burns-Cox are available for Christmas. The courses are independently run by me and held at The Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop which is an international centre for sculptors based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
These courses are designed for those who would like to discover the art of stone carving, an ancient form of art which is still popular today.
You will learn to think three dimensionally and how to manipulate the stone from the basic idea to the finished work. You will learn the importance of drawing your design onto the stone before carving, thinking about style, proportion, spacing and form before the process of carving begins.
I offer a One or Two Day Stone Letter Carving or Relief Course and a Two Day Marble Carving Course for either small groups of up to two people or private tuition. Dates are flexible but mutually agreed with the workshop. Teaching is not held on Sunday or Monday. The courses are held outside but under cover and there is an onsite cafe for breaks and lunch. There is also an onsite carpark. The course price includes the stone and the use of tools and safety glasses are provided.
