The two day marble carving course with Simon Burns-Cox is designed for those who would like to learn the techniques for carving marble. You do not need experience and the course is open to beginners and those with more experience. The course is from 9.30am to 4.30pm and run independently at The Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dates are flexible and are mutually agreed with the workshop. The course is small with up to two people or for small private groups. Individual tuition is also available.
I offer Private Tuition in Stone Letter Carving and Relief to individuals or small private groups of up to three people at The Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. Tuition is arranged on mutually convenient dates throughout the year. Tuition takes place outside but under cover and there is a cafe on site for breaks and lunch.

When people ask me to recommend what type of marble they should use for carving, I usually suggest using the 'old' type of Italian Carrara marble as its much easier to carve. This type of marble has been used for centuries by all the great sculptors of the world who often went to the mines in Carrara to select their stone and they still do today.
This One Day Stone Relief Carving Course with Simon Burns-Cox will be held at Glasgow City Heritage Trust at 54 Bell Street, Glasgow on Saturday 7th March 2020 from 10.00 to 16.00.The course is designed for those who would like to discover the art of stone carving and is suitable for all levels with a maximum of six participants in the class. The course price is £90 per head which includes the use of stone and tools plus lunch.
